Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority – Airport Operations
Managers at the airports authority needed to find a way to improve their inspection
processes at Reagan National and Dulles International Airports. Filing reports,
storing them and retrieving them later was a downright painful process. Added to
that, paper reports were sometimes ruined altogether in bad weather and inspections
weren’t as accurate as they could be due to inconsistent communication.
With Mobile Spectrum, the paper process ended. The FAR-139 runway inspection report process was streamlined, and that made data available quicker too. Now airport management can retrieve and deliver reports and filed inspections quickly from any computer that has web access.

American Elevator Inspection Services – Elevator Inspection
Inspectors at American Elevator Inspection Services (AEIS) used to take plenty of
notes during their inspections. Later, usually at the end of the day, they would
transcribe their notes into report forms in order to meet requirements from the
American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME). The process was time consuming,
and handling the information multiple times increased the chance of error.
AEIS took advantage of Mobile Spectrum to enable their inspectors to capture data, notes and checklists directly into a Tablet PC. From there, Mobile Spectrum generates ASME-formatted and approved reports that are ready for printing or e-mailing.

Metropolitan Building Services – Mobile Service Tracking
Custodial managers at Metropolitan Building Services (MBS) used to carry clipboards
to keep track of their workers and to report on the amount of times a facility had
been cleaned. But their paper logs were often lost – or destroyed – because of messy
work conditions. In addition, sometimes workers claimed they cleaned a specific
location, but there was no way to verify it one way or another.
Mobile Spectrum tackled both challenges with a solution that did away with paper logs and introduced barcoding – a system that ensured that workers were physically at each work area assigned to them. Now, MBS has the pulse of hundreds of locations throughout its facilities.

ProcessMaker/Willis – Electronic Field Data Collection
Appraisers at Willis – a prominent reinsurance company – collect field data for
such things as insurance assessments and inventory controls. Willis recognized that
this process, with several manual steps, could be improved, and worked with software
developer Colosa to make the process simpler.
The bottleneck was the manual entry required of appraisers . That’s where experts from Mobile Spectrum stepped in, working with Colosa to allow data collectors to use handheld devices to electronically capture field data and send the information directly to the Colosa software.
